Step 1
Take a blank sheet of white paper and place it on a flat surface. Sit on a chair and place one of your feet on the paper. Using a pen or pencil, trace the entire outline of your foot.
If you normally wear light or thick socks, add 1 centimeter to your measurement.
Step 2
Use a ruler to draw a rectangle around the outline of your foot, using the furthest points of the traced foot as a reference. The lines of the rectangle should touch the furthest points of the foot outline.
Step 3
Measure the length and width of the rectangle using a ruler. Write both measurements on the paper, as they play an important role in determining your shoe size.
Step 4
If you are using centimeters as your unit of measurement, subtract 0.1875 cm (or 3/16 inch) from the measured length and width. This step helps account for the small gap between the actual foot and the traced outline.
For example:
20 − 0.1875 = 19.81 cm
Step 5
For women, use the foot length measurement obtained after the subtraction. Compare it with the size chart below to find your appropriate shoe size.
This is because most women's shoes are generally sized based on foot length rather than foot width.
